Invitation to the Soweto Sevens School Rugby Festival 2018
Date: 15 September 2018
Time welcoming: 08h00 for 08h30
Games will start from: 09h00 to +/- 17h00
Venue: Jabulani Technical High School, 2188 Koma Road, Jabulani, Soweto.
There are 2 adjacent full size fields hosting the games.
Participants
Tthe intention of the festival is to have a good mix of township development teams combined with former “model c” / private schools.
The tournament focus will be on fun, comoraderie and cultural exchange. Traditional rugby schools are welcome but when chosing squads to please keep in mind the developmental aspect of the festival and that there may be teams of varying standards and experience.
Once we have an indication on the interest we will formalise the format of the festival and match teams up accordingly. Composite and club teams are also welcome.
Referees and medics will be provided
Catering
General food & drinks offerings will be available to purchase on the day.
Cost and Inclusions
Registration R 100,00 per participant
These funds will include:
- Various tournament & organisational expenses
- Assistance with logistical expenses for participating development teams with limited budget
- A food and drink voucher per person
7 a side Teams
Schools can send 1 or more teams per age group.
The tournament caters for both boys and girls teams.
Schools are welcome to only send boys or only Girls teams and need not cover all the age group categories.
With it being women’s day we are hoping for a large contingent of girls teams!!

Rules and Format
Specific information regarding the gormat will be supplied when we finalise team entered. Rules will be sent on registration and will be released in due course
Corporate sponsors
We are looking for sponsors to come on board and partner the festival. In particular we are looking for a headline sponsor who would like to take the concept to another level.
We feel that the Soweto Sevens Festivals have enourmous potential to grow from strength to strength and be a pioneer in rugby development in the country.
Future tournaments on a regular basis will be taking place. We will also be incorporating senior club team tournaments as well.
