Your journey starts at Liliesleaf Farm which was a safe house for the ANC in the days when all opposition to Aparheid and the National Government was banned and forced underground. It was a refuge, a place whereleaders (including Nelson Mandela who stayed here under the guise of “gardener”) came to discuss ideas and ideologies and to plan for the future. This museum has carried that atmosphere of thought and intellectual pursuit into their exhibit. Liliesleaf isn’t a recreation of a house as it was in 1963; it’s an explanation of ideas as they were in 1963. And an explanation of how remarkable those ideas were.
We stop off here to find out more.

Sandton City/ Houghton
We proceed to Sandton City, the modern 1st world central business and shopping district of Johannesburg, we continue through the leafy northern suburbs such as Houghton where our leaders like Mr Nelson Mandela and Jacob Zuma live when they are in Johannesburg. These are the most beautiful and expensive suburbs in Gauteng.
Onward to the Constitutional Court which is located in Braamfontein one of the original suburbs of Johannesburg. It was used as a prison in the 1960's and early 70's. We stop off and learn more about the history of the Constitutional Court and the adjoining Fort (Old Prison) which have played a fascinating roll is SA history from Colonialism through Apartheid and now on to Democracy.

We head over the Mandela Bridge to Newtown which is a great example of Johannesburg’s Urban upliftment project which aims at bringing more people back in to the city centre to live, work and of course play. Here we walk around the flea markets and soak up the new South Africa in its colourful form.
The tour continues to the origins of Johannesburg where gold was 1st discovered before stopping off at the world renowned Apartheid Museum. The Museum tells about the history of Apartheid from as early as 1804 – 1994.
